Create a Best Practices Template

Updated on

Best Practices Templates allow you to create a repeatable series of tasks and events that you can apply to Matters to automatically schedule a process or plan.  These are useful for internal office processes, official court rules of procedure, project plans, etc.

Step 1: Where to Start?

You can begin in one of three places:

  1. Select the Best Practices tab
  2. In your sidebar, 'Create New' Best Practices
  3. Select the AdvoLogix Setup tab & select Best Practices

Step 2: Create New Best Practices Template

Step 2: Create New Best Practices Template
  1. Best Practice Name
    • Choose a name that relates to the reason for this particular template.
  2. Description (optional)
    • A short description of what this particular template is meant to accomplish can assist future administration.
  3. Related To
    • The object or type of record that you want the Best Practice activities applied to.
  4. Adjust Non-Working Days
    • None - If selected, every day of the week is considered a Working Day.
    • Before - If selected and the activity due date lands on a Non-Working Day, then the due date will be moved to the business day BEFORE the Non-Working Day.
    • After - If selected and the activity due date lands on a Non-Working Day, then the due date will be moved to the business day AFTER the Non-Working Day.
  5. Move Related Activities if Key Date Changes
    • If selected and the Key Activity date is changed, then all activities setup in the template will adjust accordingly to the new date.
    • If NOT selected, then a change in the Key Activity date will not adjust the date for future activities; those activities remain based on the original date.
  6. SYSTEM INFORMATION
    • The Best Practice must be marked as 'Active' to use the Template.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Non-Working Days are (1) weekends and (2) specific holidays that are identified in your organization's business calendar.
