Change Advologix for Outlook Login Information

Updated on

Q: I reset my password and now my old security token will not work. Why?

A: Your security token is tied to your password and subject to any password policies your administrators have configured. Whenever your password is reset, your security token is also reset.

If your Advologix username or password changes, you'll need to update your login information in Advologix for Outlook.

If you have recently changed your password you have to updated your token.

A security token is an automatically-generated key that you must add to the end of your password in order to log in to Advologix and Force.com from an untrusted network.  You are offered a security token if you try to access Salesforce.com from an untrusted network - OR - through API external applications like Outlook or Word.  Once you have been issued a security token, you have the option to reset this security token at any time.

Security tokens are required whether you log in via the API or a desktop client such as Advologix for Outlook, or even Salesforce for outlook.

You are offered a security token if you try to access Advologix / Salesforce from an untrusted network. Once you have been issued a security token, you have the option to reset this security token at any time.

To reset your security token:

  1. At the top of any Salesforce page, click the down arrow next to your name.
  2. From the menu under your name, select Setup or My Settings—whichever one appears.
  3. From the left pane, select one of the following:
    1. If you clicked Setup, select My Personal Information | Reset My Security Token.
    2. If you clicked My Settings, select Personal | Reset My Security Token.
  4. Click the Reset Security Token button.

The new security token is sent via email to the email address on your Salesforce user record.  If you have never been offered a security token, for example, because your organization restricts the IP addresses from which you can log in, the Reset My Security Token node does not appear in your personal settings.
